Apple iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus Official with 12MP OIS Camera and 3D Touch Display

Yesterday, Apple announced the next generation iPhones - the 4.7" iPhone 6S and the 5.5" iPhone 6S Plus. The iPhones keep the exterior of their predecessor, but features all new internals and some nice new extras which include a new processor, updated cameras at the front and back, and a pressure sensitive 3D Touch display.

3D Touch

In addition to multitouch, the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus recognize force. It works on the home screen and gives you shortcuts on the stuff you do frequently. Pressing lightly on an email thread, gives you a preview of the message, for example. It also provides distinct and tactile feedback to your presses. Under the display, there’s a vibrating “Taptic engine”, which is similar to the one found on the Macbook trackpad and on the Apple Watch.

A9 chipset

Debuting on the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus is the Apple A9 chipset. It’s the company’s third generation 64-bit chipset and offers up to 90% faster console-class GPU as well as up to 70% faster CPU performance, 80% mode processing and 90% more graphics power than the A8 generation, according to Apple. It also offers new transistor architecture.

New 12MP iSight camera

The iPhones features Apple's all new 12MP iSight camera with 50% more pixels as well as 50% more focus pixels.

The new 12MP camera can now shoot 4K video, too. Interestingly, the front-facing camera is now 5MP and uses the LCD display as a true-tone flash. There's a special chip inside these new iPhones, which drives the display up to 3x brighter in order to provide the best possible lighting for your selfies.

Enhanced connectivity

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus ships with LTE Advanced as well as twice as fast Wi-Fi. Thanks to MiMo antenna technology inside the iPhones for this well improved and very fast Wi-Fi, but some confirmations are still needed though.
