The Xiaomi smartphones that will go on sale include the Redmi 2 and Mi 4. As for the price, the Redmi 2 will carry a tag of around $160 while the Mi 4 will set you back around $320.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Mi 4

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 looks like a Lumia and feels like it’s comparable in quality. In performance, it fares slightly better than most of Microsoft entry-level phones. The Xiaomi Mi 4 is similar, except that it looks and feels like an iPhone 5 – with the hardware grunt and software versatility of Android behind it. The Mi 4, when it first launched internationally, was very nearly the perfect phone. There is no doubt these are high-quality Smartphones for real.

Xiaomi has appointed the Mobile In Africa (MIA) Group - which has presence in 14 African countries - as a full-service distributor for these markets, providing importation, logistics, marketing, and support services.

“We see Africa as the next frontier for smartphone growth and we are excited to be partnering with MIA Group to offer consumers in these three countries our high-quality smartphones at amazing prices,” said Xiaomi’s Global Strategy Director Raymond Tian.

With other manufacturers (like Tecno, Infinix, InnJoo, Gionee etc) also pumping out their Smartphones in massive quantities in Nigeria and some other African countries. Do you think Xiaomi will be able to survive and win the heart of Smartphone users in Nigeria and other African countries? Let's hear from you!

  1. Is Xiaomi really the 4th largest smartphone in the world? I think not!

    1. Yes, they are. You think not because their smartphones are not really common here in Nigeria, their smartphones are more common in Asia and middle east where there are most people in the world.
